How to install RetailStack POSstories
RetailStack POS is a new app, so your computer may show a one-time security prompt. Just follow the steps for your device — it only takes a minute.
Click Download for Windows to start the download.
Your browser may say "Suspicious download blocked" or "can't be downloaded securely." This is normal. Follow the steps below for your browser to keep the file.
If you use Microsoft Edge
Click the downloads icon ↓ at the top-right corner of the browser.
Find
Retailstack.exein the list and move your mouse over it.Click the … (three dots) that appear, then click Keep.
If it asks again, click Show more, then Keep anyway.
If you use Google Chrome
Find
Retailstack.exein the downloads bar (bottom of the screen) or the downloads list (top-right).Click the … (three dots) next to it, then click Keep.
If it asks again, click Keep anyway.
If you use Firefox
Click the downloads icon ↓ at the top-right corner of the browser.
Find
Retailstack.exe. If it shows a warning, click the … (or right-click it) next to the file.Click Allow download (or Unblock).
Can't find a "Keep" or "Allow" button?
Open your browser's menu and go to Settings → Privacy & Security.
Temporarily turn off the option to scan or block downloads (in Edge/Chrome it's under "Security" or "Safe Browsing").
Download the file again — it should save normally now.
Turn that setting back on once the download finishes.
Open the downloaded file (check your Downloads folder or the bar at the bottom of your browser).
If you see a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen, click More info, then Run anyway.
Why do these warnings appear?
RetailStack POS is a new app and not yet recognised by Microsoft, so Windows shows a one-time caution. The file is safe — these prompts go away as more people install the app.
Follow the installer. When it finishes, RetailStack POS opens automatically and adds a desktop shortcut.
The file disappeared right after downloading?
Your antivirus (or Windows Security) may have moved it to quarantine by mistake. To get it back:
Open Windows Security (click Start and type "Windows Security").
Go to Virus & threat protection → Protection history.
Find the
Retailstack.exeitem, click it, and choose Restore (or Allow). If you use a different antivirus (Avast, Norton, McAfee, etc.), look for its Quarantine or Virus chest and restore the file there.
Using a work or shared computer?
Some company or shop computers are locked down and won't show a "Run anyway" button at all. This isn't something you did wrong — only the computer's administrator can allow the app. Ask whoever manages your computers, or email us at support@retailstack.co and we'll help.
Click Download for Mac and save the file
Retailstack.dmg.Open your Downloads and double-click
Retailstack.dmg.In the window that opens, drag the RetailStack POS icon onto the Applications folder.
Open your Applications folder and double-click RetailStack POS.
You'll see a message saying the app can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer. This is normal for a new app. Click Done — then follow the steps below to allow it.
Allow the app (macOS Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia and newer)
Click the Apple menu (top-left corner) → System Settings.
Click Privacy & Security in the left sidebar.
Scroll down to the Security section. You'll see a line that says "RetailStack POS was blocked."
Click Open Anyway next to it.
Enter your Mac password or Touch ID if asked, then click Open Anyway once more.
On older macOS (Monterey and earlier)
Instead of the steps above: open your Applications folder, right-click (or Control-click) RetailStack POS, choose Open, then click Open again on the prompt.
If macOS says "Apple could not verify… is free of malware"
This is the same "new app" warning. Use the Privacy & Security → Open Anyway steps above to allow it. You only need to do this once — after that the app opens normally.
If macOS says "RetailStack POS is damaged and can't be opened"
Open the Terminal app (find it with Spotlight: press ⌘ + Space, type "Terminal"), paste the line below, press Return, then open the app again:xattr -cr "/Applications/RetailStack POS.app"
Note on Mac compatibility
This version runs on Apple Silicon Macs (2020 and newer — M1/M2/M3/M4). Older Intel Macs are not supported yet.
