Windows 10 & 11
Installing on Windows
The POS is a new app, so Windows may show a one-time security prompt. It takes about a minute.

Click Download for Windows to start the download.

Your browser may say "Suspicious download blocked" or "can't be downloaded securely". This is normal for a new app.
Microsoft Edge Click the downloads icon at the top right. Find
Retailstack.exe, hover it, click the three dots, then Keep. If it asks again, choose Show more, then Keep anyway.Google Chrome Find the file in the downloads bar at the bottom or the downloads list at the top right. Click the three dots next to it, then Keep.
Firefox Open the downloads list. If it shows a warning, right-click the file and choose Allow download or Unblock.
Open your browser menu and go to Settings → Privacy & Security. Temporarily turn off the option to scan or block downloads. In Edge and Chrome it sits under Security or Safe Browsing.
Download the file again. It should save normally. Turn that setting back on once the download finishes.

Open the downloaded file. If you see a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen, click More info, then Run anyway.
Retail Stack POS is a new app and is not yet recognised by Microsoft, so Windows shows a one-time caution. The file is safe, and these prompts stop appearing as more people install it.

Follow the installer. When it finishes the POS opens on its own and adds a desktop shortcut.
Your antivirus or Windows Security may have moved it to quarantine by mistake. Open Windows Security, go to Virus & threat protection → Protection history, find the item, and choose Restore or Allow.
On Avast, Norton, McAfee and the like, look for Quarantine or Virus chest and restore the file there.
Some shop and company machines are locked down and will not show a Run anyway button at all. Nothing has gone wrong. Only the computer's administrator can allow the app, so ask whoever manages your machines, or email support@retailstack.co and we will help.
Mac
Installing on a Mac
macOS shows a one-time prompt for any app it has not seen before. You only need to allow it once.

Click Download for Mac and save
Retailstack.dmg. -
Open your Downloads folder and double-click
Retailstack.dmg. In the window that opens, drag the Retail Stack POS icon onto the Applications folder. -
Open Applications and double-click Retail Stack POS. macOS will say the app cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Click Done, then allow it in the next step.

Go to the Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll to Security, find the line reading "Retail Stack POS was blocked", and click Open Anyway. Enter your password or Touch ID, then click Open once more.
Open your Applications folder, right-click or Control-click Retail Stack POS, choose Open, then click Open again on the prompt.
This is the same new-app warning. Use the Privacy & Security → Open Anyway steps above. You only need to do it once, after which the app opens normally.
Open the Terminal app (press ⌘ + Space and type Terminal), then paste the line below, press Return, and open the app again.
